Ironically the world is addicted to the smell of gun powder and in the aftermath of war shoot rockets into the air to hear bomb's loud booms and see colorful explosions burst in the air in flaming red glare to celebrate victory, as chemicals rain down on all life to symbolize man-made ruins and ashes. In America it's called the Fourth of July in honor of victory from colonial England. But Great Britain views the reminder of bombs dropping overhead conjures up fear instead of joy
Classic Europeans have nearly silent fireworks and are more interested in the graphic image of fireworks. They can do without the familiar ear shattering blasts of shots blasting into the air. World history has much to do with this geographical difference. Ever since the US Civil War the nation no longer kills its own citizens. Although Confederates and Union soldiers combating one another, often in families split apart and blown apart fighting over human rights controversies. But ever since the atrocity on September 11, 2001 by Saudi Arabians, Americans haven't experienced the tragedies of Europe where the people never forget the fear of hearing bombs bursting in air over their heads for centuries of time. Today in America we focus on fear of lone wolves, the culprits of terrorism and violence by young people perverted boy extremist recruiting young people for suicide bombers.
Meanwhile, in America, the old wild West of shoot 'em up mentality on the streets and swinging bar door bar is gone, but now returning as the US is presently the gun shooting mavericks of the world. As a result it would take years to get over having the same old deafening thunderous displays.
So what's really wrong with deafening thunderous displays of gun powder"
l. people, especially children can go deaf from loud explosive bangs
2. anamals are crazed frightened by the startling explosions; in 2011 5,000 migrating red wing black birds fell to the ground dead after a fireworks display
3. deer and other wild animals are dazed and stresses as they flee wildly across roads causing increase in vehicular accidents
4. livestock and milk cows are greatly affected by 150 to 170 decibels, with horses "spooked"
5. dogs kept out side in open air housing due to lack of room often run away
6. chemicals raining down as the particles are scattered at large distances from "comet tails" and flying fish"
7. contamination of land, air and waterways
Since the US is fortunate to not have real bombs dropping on them, people may feel deprived from not hearing the headache-causing blasts of big aerial explosions. The thinking of the old vast Roman Empire coliseum entertainment still lodges in our DNA–bread and circus,
6. fires hazards
But older people think they must have all these disadvantages to health of humans and animals alike, just to have "their total experience," even though their children may lose their hearing, as they try to cover their sensitive ears, as babies cry and no one seems to know why
Today young people can take or leave fireworks. Their not addicted to gun smoke and maybe only look up a few times from their I-pads and other electronics. America finally banned smoking from public places, but bringing the noise level down a number of decibels in fireworks in the US may take a few generations to pass for thus to happen.
