With employment always on the block, the new age of solar and wind power is at hand. So give it a hand with enthusiastic enoloyees working for a good cause. Even privately owned Cosmos 1 is pioneering travel by renewable free energy. This is not the future. This is now!
This Planetary Society is based in Pasadena, CA. Its technology takes the place of fuel that is heavy and can blow up! It involves stronger modern materials, hopefully shot from submarines, reaching a 500-mile high orbit.
The space craft has eight sail blades of aluminum-backed plastic, one quarter the thickness of a trash bag. It unfurls into a 100-foot wide circle. It's goal is to circle Earth once every 101 minutes for weeks. The sail should be visible at night in full bright moonlight.
It would behoove a sincere candidate for U.S. presidency to make this the platform instead of war-torn talk about turkey vultures wanting more military (what Gen. Eisenhower deplored) and grosser chemical/nuclear war weapons that create more carbon in the atmosphere than peace efforts. Non of these obsolete weapons can keep anyone safe with cyber warfare more dangerous than demonic arsenals.
