There is more than one way to fly a kite. Add a Peace Department to the War Department or separately for real, honest defense. Save the lives of the nation's young people instead of sacrificing them as burnt offerings to the gods on bloody war zones. Preserve trillions of tax payers money to train young people in diplomacy and saving lives through humanitarian means versus training to kill and be killed.
The Peace Corps is commendable, but a Federal Peace Department means National defense that takes the courage of home land police for law and order–national defense. And the money saved from wars is more than enough to provide lucrative salaries and other perks to Soldiers for Peace, who also can make a difference.
Fighting in foreign proxy and civil wars is a waste of precious lives and funding. Remember Vietnam to halt Communism? After years of toxic earthquaking warfare President Nixon finally brought an end to its futility, as the ideology of Communism still marches on. Governments producing religious terrorists must produce their own defense, with foreign nations offering them expertise and moral support.
The advantages of a Peace Department for check and balance far out weigh an outmoded war department that only increases the ancient circle of religious revenge meaning endless war violence and terrorism. An innovative change to add a Peace Department to the government also needs to have the accountability of religious leaders fueling and triggering faith wars going around in a circle of fire for centuries For God's sake stop preaching "There's only one road to paradise–our way!" This is irresponsible blasphemy and heresy in a world of thousands of different faith is a world crime.
