TERRORISM BREEDS DARK VENGEFUL ROOTS THAT PENETRATE DEEPlLY

Years ago I was among five fifers and drummers supporting a Civil War  re-enactment group along with  other musicians in Virginia–the site of a savage battle. After the action we visited the plantation house on the property.  The docent was from Atlanta, GA.  During the tour she spoke very harshly about General Sherman's march to the sea.

Dear Ones,

Civil War bitterness over the loss of ancestors and the devastation to the land with thousands of soldiers and animals killed along the way was locked into her soul and DNA.  Spreading flames and shades of  dark billowing gun smoke left smoldering ruins that smoldered in her mind.

Terrorism is more than skin deep.  It continues for generations that remember their own war victims.  Blow-back still causes violence in hateful retaliation.

Any shallow thinking war department, euphemized to "defense," commits terrorism to squelch terrorism. Where are international peace departments to compete with worldwide war departments? The most lasting defense is communication and diplomacy–with the fountain heads of religion causing the slaughter and inhumanity in dire need of teaching tolerance for one another instead of uncivil inhumanity.  Authoritarians must call off their dogs and dogma.  Good gods promote peace, not war.

Above all, peace departments and peace economies must balance the masters of aggression whose goal for a temporary peace is to slash and burn.  Nothing is more needed than masters of peace.  The strength of a peace department would never have condoned Sherman's March of devastation, now a song that many fifers and drummers refuse to play, as terrorism breeds black roots that penetrate deeply.
