Byzantium in Asia Minor (now Turkey) became Constantinople, now Istanbul. Emperor Constantine was the first to unite the entire Roman Empire, Western and Eastern, and proclaimed Christianity the imperial dominating religion. He also had his son killed as well as his wife as a result of a sexual dispute. Later the Pauline New Testament added to the Hebrew Bible was the source of the Great Commission.
Constantine fought many battles but eventually Muslims succeeded in taking over the Eastern part of the Roman Empire, now the Ottoman Empire.
After Constantine's death another Roman emperor became powerful and demanded that all people within his empire become Christians, at the threat of death, what later led to the Inquisition lasting for centuries through the Holy Office.
Today ancient ruins are reminiscent of this documentation of the Western Roman and the Eastern Ottoman Empire, all Holy lands along with Jerusalem in Israel, the capital of Palestine and Israel. Great pilgrimages still take place to these famous ruins and early buildings, a great part of world history.
