FORMER AMBASSADOR TO SAUDI ARABIA, JAMES B. SMITH RETIRED BRIGADIER GENERAL WR0TE "MIDDLE EAST PROBLEM CAN'T BE SOLVED WITH BULLETS"

Since G. W. Bush further exacerbated the current tragedy of a sick biased Earth, the problem can't be solved by an over bloated military. The United States should contribute to the destruction of a brain washed ISIS that defies the good teaching of the great peace makers, Jesus and Muhammad. But America must not lead this particular aggression to destroy a rogue man-made branch of Islam.

Although this is the first administration to emphasize communication and rhetoric, there still needs to have more diplomatic and political remedies and less devices of the military.  President Obama and Secretary Kerry have enhanced the effort for democratic purposes, the base of democracy, but the xenophobic racist side of Congress has stymied President Obama from the beginning of his two terms.

The general pointed out "for the last 30 years the U.S. has become militarized" and taken on a war economy instead of working for peace that doesn't cost millions of lives and trillions of dollars. He added, the United States can't force change on any nation. Improvement has to be up to the Middle East. It's own people are the leaders of the Arab spring.  He added, "It's not about us, it's about them."

Dear Ones,

General Smith's wife, Janet Breslin-Smith, is also an authority on the Middle East. She too deplores sectarian proxy wars that the U.S. can't solve, even by newcomer hopefuls for presidency with bomb blasting shouts of "bomb the Middle East back to the stone age."  Only those behaving like primitive cave man would utter such nonsense. This is why I like Rand Paul since he's the only candidate that advocates international peace. As Michael Franti of Spearhead wrote, "You can bomb the whole world but you can't bomb it to peace"–maybe pieces but that's not harmony.

Janet Breslin-Smith was the first woman to chair the Department of National Security at the National War College. While in Saudi Arabia she influenced formal education of Arabian women, what females had during the golden years of Islam, especially in Moorish Spain. She emphasized open discussion of Muslims and their Islamic culture.

The United States must defeat its own ugly behavior of Muslims as our ancestors did against American "Indians" and American Africans. If it hadn't been for Danny Thomas from Syria-Lebanon, there would be no St. Jude's helping thousands of children.  And regard to Muslim youths degraded around the world, we the prejudice peoples are shooting ourselves in our own feet. Muslim immigrants need to be welcomed instead of being made pariahs as did immigrant Europeans against American indigenous people. No youth should be ostracized and made to feel inferior. This injustice is what has been causing suicidal bombers and terrorists for decades.  Secular does not cause problems because it means unbiased. Sectarian idealistic governments are often bigoted and are religious driven.
